This LSBU Girl Can Week Starts Today

It’s finally here! London South Bank University and Students’ Union very own This LSBU Girl Can Week, starts today.

iBank Media will be bringing you interviews with the LSBSU Women’s Officer Indi Patel. The interviews will be from female members of five LSBSU sports teams. Each day one will be released on the 20th of November to the 24th. Throughout the week, we will be keeping you up to date on what’s going on and how you can get involved.

You may be asking why do we have a women in sports week at all? Well, women are massively under-represented in many industries and especially the media. According to Women’s Sport and Fitness, Foundation women receive only 10% of televised coverage. Not only on television, women in sports receive 2% coverage in newspapers according to the same report. This is why we are challenging, changing and promoting women in sports this week.

Make sure you attend some of the events coming up, organised by the Academy of Sports.

Other events include This Girl Can Pub Quiz on Tuesday 22nd of November 6pm – 8pm in the Venue Bar.

To celebrate ‘This Girl Can’ week, iBank Media will be bringing you an exclusive series of interviews over the week from women in sports here at LSBSU. Written by the LSBSU Women’s Officer, Indi. Find the articles here:
